2011 Newsletter Archives

October/November Newsletter (pdf) – As I post this newsletter file to the website, the temperature is in the mid 80′s in the second week of November.  We took our family holiday pictures yesterday afternoon in sweaters.  Not the most pleasant experience so say the least.  Hard to believe that Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away – nothing says holidays like shorts in November, right?  I’m also a little fouled up by the fact that its completely bright outside when I step out of the house at 7 o’clock in the morning – still adjusting to the time change.  I’m definitely a morning person but I’m the kind of morning person that likes to wake up with the morning, gradually.  I’m not the type that likes to wake up to bright, sunny skies – it throws me off.  Not a big fan of driving home at 5:45 in semi-darkness either.   What does this have to do with the newsletter? Well, not much.  I do reference the time change in my newsletter if that counts, but otherwise, I’m just typing out loud.  The latest edition of the Better Austin Living Newsletter is posted – please read it, enjoy it, share it.  This month’s copy includes articles about how to boost your brainpower, get on the ‘right’ sleep schedule, and take better pictures with your smartphone amongst others.  My apologies, no cover letter this month, no pictures etc…..  The mailing deadline got me and I dropped the ball – wont happen again ;)You can download a pdf copy of the newsletter here.

August/September Newsletter (pdf) -  I know personally, this time of they year I’m ready for a little break and a pick me up.  Its also the time of the year when kids go back to school and the shift is from summer routine to school year routine.  That is why this months newsletter is full of positive stories and anecdotes including: 7 Reasons to Feel Good, Quick Pick-Me-Ups, 4 Ways to Combat the Post-Vacation Blues and How to Encourage Children to Explore Creativity.  My cover letter this month explains that contrary to popular belief, its not to late in the year to achieve your real estate goals.  If you need to sell a home or are entertaining the possibility of moving up, Id be more than happy to discuss your situation with you to help you figure out the best strategy.  The real estate market while slower, does not officially shut down just because school starts.  There are still plenty of great opportunities out there.  Take a look at some of the folks I have helped thus far this year and how I can help you.  You can also download a copy of this months newsletter here.

June/July Newsletter (pdf) - This newsletter includes a cover letter with an update on what has been going on with my family over the past couple of months.  My daughter, now almost six months old, changes on a daily basis and this first six months has been a string of “firsts” for her.   The newsletter itself features fun and useful tips such as: summer landscaping tips, ways to reduce your utility bills, sun safety guidelines, tips on how to eliminate red wine stains and how to avoid accidents caused by poor lighting.  You can download this months newsletter here.

April/May Newsletter (pdf) -  This month’s newsletter is must read for anyone who owns a property (or two).  In my cover letter, I start off by explaining some of the ins and outs of the Property Tax Appraisals that were mailed out at the beginning of May.  Other articles in this month’s newsletter include tips for online safety, how to remember people’s names when you are in conversation with them (we can all improve there),  how to plant your own herb garden and some insight into the age old question about whether or not money can buy happiness.   This month I’m also back into the swing of things with the “From My Nightstand” column where I briefly discuss four books that I’ve recently read or are currently reading. You can download this month’s newsletter here.

February/March Newsletter (pdf) - If you are like me, you set lofty goals for yourself every year; things you want to achieve, milestones you want to hit.  Yet by the time that we are 2-3 months in to the new year, the novelty has worn off and its just plain hard work to maintain.  That is, unless you have established good habits around those goals.  In this newsletter I share an article on how creating good habits helps sustain lasting change.  I also share 4 of the online productivity tools that have allowed me to start focused and organized so far this year.  Finally, in my newsletter cover, I share the highs and lows of my first 2 months of parenthood.  Its been an interesting ride thus far.  You can download this months newsletter here.

January Newsletter (pdf) – Happy New Year!  If you have been a long time subscriber, you’ll notice that I have made some formatting changes to the newsletter starting with the first edition of 2011.  Never one to let things go stale, I’m pretty happy with the new design and I hope you enjoy it too.  Its the same great information just having undergone a little makeover.  Well,  January has been a big month for me.  On January 18th, we were blessed to welcome our daughter, Madeline Marie, to the world.  I briefly touch on the first two weeks of our parenting experience in my newsletter cover letter this month.   Outside of that wonderful nugget of news, this month’s newsletter touches on social networking etiquette, how to avoid burn-out and ten tips to speed up your success in the coming year.  You can download this month’s newsletter here.
